Set to George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, Serena first appears in black and white, frustrated and defeated, until the music stalls and the screen fades to black. The music comes to life and Serena explodes as she strikes the ball in bright outfits. As the song continues Serena celebrates, progressing from the moment the final point was won and she collapses on the court, to pumping her arms to the sky, to jumping in triumph, to her signature twirl move, and finally, to hoisting her trophy in victory. The screen jumps to white and the Nike logo appears for the first time, playfully cycling through the core colors in time with the music. Each word in the slogan appears as the final three notes play. As the music trills we see the word “color” flash through the campaign colors until the ultimate note when the text and the logo settle on black.
